Middle East Perspective" opens with a discussion of the projected peace talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority and the prospect of their being elevated from indirect to direct negotiations. Jamil Hamad of Time magazine describes the political problems facing Authority President Mahmoud Abbas as he vies with the Gaza Strip's Hamas regime and its supporters in the West Bank. Yitzhak Noy of Israel Radio is on the studio panel with Jay Bushinsky of CBS Radio as moderator.  Also on their agenda is the extent to which Hamas actually is maintaining control of the Gaza Strip and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's watershed visit to Greece.

The complicated political and diplomatic hurdles that must be surmounted if direct talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority ever can begin are discussed on "Middle East Perspective" by Prof. Eitan Gilboa of Bar-Ilan University with Yitzhak Noy of Israel Radio as moderator and Jay Bushinsky as panelist.  They also deal with the current status of Hamas in the Gaza Strip -- whether it is losing control or not as well as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's official visit to Greece.

The Hebrew version of "Middle East Perspective" can be heard in Montreal on CJRS (1650 AM) at 12:00 noon on Wednesday and the English version at 6:00 p.m.
