     MIDDLE EAST PERSPECTIVE

Speaking Jay Bushinsky and Yitzhak Noy
December 15, 2009

Audio Clip:

The "Obama Effect" is the key topic in this week's edition of "Middle East Perspective"
with Yitzhak Noy of Israel Radio and Jay Bushinsky of CBS Radio.  They consider the impact
of President Obama's demand that Israel halt housing construction in the West Bank's
controversial Jewish settlements on the American-Jewish community.  Bushinsky, who just
returned from a visit to the U.S., contends that it unleashed pent-up criticism of Israel
harbored by influential columnists and elements who believe in "even-handedness" in the
American approach to the Israeli-Palestinian dispute.  Noy also interviews Bushinsky on
the growing Arab and Muslim communities in the U.S., including changes on their traditional
attitude toward Israel -- more objectivity and in some instances, support for Israel in
such new groups as "Arabs for Israel."
